Chris's Random Ramblings

Tue, 25 Oct 2005 - iTunes in Australia

Apple has finally opened an iTunes store in Australia. I noticed that the US iTunes store seems to have quite a few more Missy Higgins songs available than the Australian one. Given that Missy Higgins is an Australian singer, it seems to be a rather strange situation. So I ended up buying the few songs I didn't already have from the US store rather than the Australian one.

Fri, 25 Mar 2005 - Pipe attempts to escape

Pipe's brother Gizzy is allowed to go outside, but Pipe isn't as he's a bit too trusting. So when Gizzy gets to wander supervised for a while outside, Pipe gets to stay in the bedroom. He's seen Gizzy outside through the window though. Pipe saw me take out the rubbish this morning, and in the afternoon he tried to sneak out by getting in the bin. Its either that, or he fell off the bed into the bin.

Fri, 25 Feb 2005 - Hackfest Competition Open

Details about the Linux.conf.au 2005 hackfest competition are now available on the LCA website.

Source code is available here and includes a simple text based client as well as a very dumb sample AI.

Tue, 25 Jan 2005 - Wesnoth Addiction

Rusty introduced me to Wesnoth late last week and I've been rather addicted ever since. Its an open source (GPL) turn based strategy game. Its not as sophisticated as recent proprietary games, but still lots of fun to play. I think it also has a lot of promise to serve as a basis for much better games in the future.

Anyway if the Linux.conf.au Hackfest runs behind schedule, you now know why. It appears several other Ozlabs members are also hooked.
