I've just dropped this change to the hwtools module. All scripts have
been converted to use kconf instead of kvictim. The purpose of this
change is to allow configuration information to be more consistently
specified throughout the scripts spawned by hwconsole. All accesses to
configuration variables should occur through the provided interfaces
(perl library, an a "bash library"); these interfaces know how hwconsole
may have invoked them and how information was passed from hwconsole.
Specifically for Watson people: the only configuration files that
matter are your own .victims.conf files. When you run hwconsole or
k42console, kconf will talk to kpitch to retrieve information about your
victims. You may have, in the past, changed victim configurations in
watson.conf --- this won't work anymore. You must use .victims.conf for
tweaks. The advantage of this is that if the master database on kpitch
is updated nobody has to update and re-build the tools to see those
changes.
Of course bad things will happen, and I'll be the first to say that
regress will fail tonight...
Michal
