[K42-discussion] What is the correct version of gcc, glibc, binutils, linux and linuxthreads required for a successful K42 build ?

I recently did a fresh laptop install and built K42 using these
packages (though with debs instead of the tarballs). I would recommend
trying to use a host compiler of gcc 3.3 rather than anything newer.

For some reason regress fails when I build the tree with a host gcc
3.4 instead gcc 3.3. The build does complete in both cases though.
Haven't had time to track down why.
