[K42-discussion] Support for BogusNet for the IBM CBE Ful-System Simulator Platform

Hi,
I managed to compile and link in the mambonet driver into the cell
full system simulator.
When I launch the simulator, I can see a message that eth0 has initialized
the bogus network driver.
Ummmm, now I'm stuck because I dont have any documentation on how to use the
mambonet driver or use the simulated network interface on the simulator !!
:-)
Would it be possible for someone to kindly tell me the commands to use this
driver or the network interface from within the simulator ?
The ping command is not available. ifconfig is available and runs, although,
I'm not sure of the results its returning. It appears to be configured with
a LOOPBACK interface and not the mambonet driver.
If you could help me with the mambonet driver commands, it would be much
appreciated.
Best regards,
Elvis Dowson

Ful-System Simulator Platform
Good news:
K42 uses the IP and NIC drivers from Linux, so with some simple "back
porting" the BogusNet driver from Linux should easily work with k42.
It is also important to note that k42 has an addition systemsim networking
scenario that linux does not. It is called "simip" and it allows the entire
TCP/IP stack to be offloaded increasing the performance of the simulated
workload (since you are not simulating the stack). The k42 source code has
more details on this works.
Bad news:
However, K42 does not yet run on the Cell, since it has some architectural
changes that we have not added to k42 yet.
You could, however, obtain the IBM GPUL/970 Full System Simulator if you
wish to run k42.
